Train / Foot
If you arriving by train and would like to walk to our guesthouse it will take you
approximately 20 minutes. Please follow these directions;
- Turn left out of station and walk down the side of the bar walls until you can walk
through the opening in the city wall.
- Walk down to the bridge but do not cross it.
- Turn right down the side of the AVIVA building. Walk down to next bridge then cross
over here.
- As you cross to the other side you will see a pub called the Kings Arms and lots
of steps leading down to the river, go down these steps and walk to the next bridge.
- When you reach the next bridge walk under it and carry on walking along the river.
- After about 400 yards you will see a small bright blue bridge.
- Walk over this and then turn left and walk up Blue Bridge Lane onto the main street.
- When you reach the main street immediately turn right and the Priory is approx 400yards
on your right.
Train / Bus
If you arriving by train and would like to take a bus to the guesthouse the number
9 Red Line Park and Ride bus sets of from the station every 10 minutes and goes
right past the York Priory. Please ask for the Grange Street stop.
Train / Taxi
If you are arriving by train we recommend that you take a taxi from the station
and ask for the Priory Hotel, everyone knows the guesthouse and it costs about,
£5.00 (please be aware of unscrupulous taxi drivers who will try to persuade
you to stay elsewhere, usually they are receiving a commission for this)
If you're coming by car please follow the directions detailed below. Don't worry,
if get lost, give us a ring and we'll do our best to guide you in. Just find a landmark
like a pub or road name that you can give us.
Directions to the Priory Hotel by Car
The guesthouse is situated on the south side of the city on the 1076 inner ring
road; just follow the exit marked with the A19 road to Selby.
From the A1 South
Continue on the A1 until you see the A63 towards Selby. Drive through Selby, then
continue on the A19 towards York when you reach the York boundary the guesthouse
is 2 miles from this on the left hand side.
From the A1 North
Continue on the A1 until you see the signs for A64 towards York. Take this exit
and continue on this for 14 miles. As you approach York avoid all signs to York
city centre and continue on A64 until you see the third sign for York labelled the
A19 York city centre Selby. It is after you have gone over the river Ouse and marked
designer centre. Come off at this exit and follow the signs for city centre, the
guesthouse is 2 miles on that road on the left hand side.
From M1 South & M62 West
As you come up the M1 and approach Leeds you go under the M62. Immediately there
is a sign saying Leeds East & A1, follow this exit it is the Leeds outer ring
road. Follow it round for about 10 miles eventually it will join the A1 then almost
immediately you will see signs for A64 to York, follow this exit continue on this
for 14 miles. As you approach York avoid all signs to York city centre and continue
on A64 until you see the third sign for York labelled the A19 York to Selby. It
is after you have gone over the river Ouse and marked designer centre. Come off
at this exit and follow the signs for city centre the guesthouse is 2 miles on that
road on the left hand side.
